Great show guys, lots of useful tips on 1:1 there.
However, I do think the term ‘Engagement’ is becoming a little over used.

Makes me think of the movie, The Castle, and the expression, “How’s the serenity? So much serenity!” but rather, in the classroom of today, How’s the Engagment? So much Engagment!

Fair comment, Darren. But you can certainly tell the difference between classrooms that have it and those that don’t! The word ‘engagement’ may be over used but if you haven’t got students on task and interested it’s very hard to achieve the learning outcomes. I think the point we were trying to make is that ICT increases that engagement and therefore is more likely to increase the learning. Jamie, who was on the podcast has some hard data as evidence from absence records, connectedness surveys, and literacy and numeracy assessment results. This just isn’t anecdotal observation. Thanks for the feedback.
